Accounting Assistant/Accounts Payable
ABOUT THE COMPANY:This client is located in Stratford, and is a client we have worked with for years having placed most of their accounting department! They are a transportation company and were founded over 50 years ago! They have strong domestic and international ties within their transportation business. Due to their growth, they are in need of an Accounts Payable professional to join their team and can start as soon as next week!
Role and Responsibilities:

• Prepare accounts payable vouchers with correct accounts and department codes.
  
• Process accounts payable and input all information into accounting software system.
  
• Review invoices and check requests.
  
• Maintain files of accounts payable invoices.
  
• Research and respond to vendor inquiries.
  
• Reconcile vendor statements.
  
• Prepare and process accounts payable checks/payments
  
• Comfortable processing over 50 checks per week
  
• Maintain vendor profile and 1099 information (including form W9 database).
  
• Generate and reconcile reports.
  
• Cashflow- Balancing Checks and Scanning into the system
  
• Bank Reconciliations
  
• Assist in month end closing
  
• Other duties as needed
  QUALIFICATIONS:
  
  • Prior Accounts Payable or Accounting Clerk level experience preferred
    
  • Intermediate Excel skills
    
  • Strong attention to detail
