Job Description:
About the Role: A multiemployer Benefit Fund based in Queens,
NY, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to
join our team in a dual role. This position combines the
responsibilities of a Participant Services/Collections Department
Representative and a Bookkeeper, offering a unique opportunity to
contribute to both member support and financial operations in a
positive, collaborative, and structured office environment. Key
Responsibilities: Participant Services / Collections Department
Representative: Handle telephone calls and in-person visits from
Participants and Employers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues,
and providing information on employer accounts and/or benefit
plans. Provide comprehensive descriptions of Health & Welfare plan
benefits. Research information and follow up with participants as
necessary. Assist Employers in managing accounts, ensuring they
remain current and paid in full. Data entry; Process employer
hires, employer payments, and participant 401(k) election forms
daily. Assist Employers in the utilization of proprietary
remittance system for reporting to the Fund. Maintain a working
knowledge of designated employers' status with the Fund and ensure
ongoing written and verbal communication to keep employers
informed. Bookkeeper: Maintain and reconcile financial records for
all accounts of the Funds. Assist with all general accounting
functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entry
preparation and posting, intercompany, treasury, and any other
related transaction cycles. Identify key accounting and business
issues, based on monthly financial/trend analysis Core Services /
Office Needs (Applicable to both roles): Develop an in-depth
understanding of Participants and Employers' needs. Utilize
proprietary database system for servicing participants and
employers. Effectively communicate with Participants/Employers,
both verbally and in writing, to problem-solve and manage complex
issues. Handle mail/correspondence to Participants and Employers.
Provide backup support to clerical staff as needed.
Organize/prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Perform general
office filing and scanning. Other duties as assigned. To Qualify:
High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of customer service
experience, with a focus on employee benefits and collections.
College degree (with a major in Accounting) or equivalent relevant
bookkeeping experience. Solid understanding of bookkeeping and
accounting principles is a plus Knowledge of filing systems and
general business office practices. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
and MS Word; MS Access preferred. Must be flexible and comfortable
working in a structured, fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.

communication, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skill set.
