This is where Chapter Next can be part of your solution/.Chapter Next is a 12/-16 week paid "returnship" hosted by RMS/. Candidates who have taken a professional career hiatus for at least 2/+ years will be eligible to apply to this program/.During this returnship participants will become part of a community of similarly experienced professionals with challenging work scope that contributes to the great innovation produced by Lockheed Martin/. Selected candidates will be exposed to comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, networking opportunities, and individual based mentoring/.Our goal is to provide the fundamental tools needed to be successful in your field, and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Lockheed Martin full/-time/. Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities/.This returnship position is with the RMS Should Cost and Value Engineering team and will be located at Sikorsky in Stratford, CT/. The returnship will report to the manager of the Should Cost & Value Engineering team and will contribute to Lockheed Martin by: Helping the company figure out how much it should pay for the parts and labor that it uses in its products; and Working with stakeholders to make Lockheed Martin and its suppliers more efficient/.Success in this position will require curiosity, the ability to build accurate numeric models, a willingness to listen and learn about manufacturing processes, the ability to engage with people that you have never met, and the discipline to consistently document and improve processes/. As we are a small department with complex and challenging work, we are looking for hard/-working generalists, not specialists/. Basic Qualifications: 0/. Process planning power /- You've evaluated / developed / improved processes in the past, particularly in the context of multiple stakeholders or complex organizations/.1/. A broad sense of curiosity - you've got to love learning and be interested in a wide variety of topics, because you'll need to learn a lot about a wide range of disciplines to be successful in this role/.2/. The ability to not be overwhelmed by large amounts of qualitative and quantitative information/.3/. Basic systems thinking - you need to be able to understand how the many different pieces of a system fit and work together/.4/. Mild to moderate extroversion - you must be capable of engaging with people, including people you don't know at all, and people who have a background that is substantially different than your own/.5/. Some interest in LM's products - you'll be looking and thinking about them all day/. If they're not interesting to you, you will do poorly in this work/.6/. Software aptitude - you have the demonstrated capability to quickly learn new and complex software/. If you don't know MS Windows and Office well, this is not the job for you/.7/. Quantitative capabilities - you have a demonstrated ability to understand complex numeric information, although the discipline involved is not important/. You have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a discipline that required mastery of quantitative information/.8/. Attention to detail and performance to deadline - your former coworkers and/or classmates could / did / do count on you to deliver high/-quality work on time/.9/. Perseverance and resiliency - like all work that involves uncertainty, our work is occasionally frustrating/. Information management /- You have formal experience in the science of arranging, structuring, and displaying information/. Qualitative data /- You have experience or interest in a discipline such as history, anthropology, or sociology that requires the assimilation, integration, and evaluation of large amounts of qualitative information to support or contradict a hypothesis/.
